Plovdiv är en stad som ligger i Republiken Bulgarien och den är administrativ huvudort i regionen Plovdiv och dessutom landets näst största stad.
Den ligger på Trakiens lågland, vid stranden av floden Maritsa och i utkanten av de sju kullarna.
Vi rekommenderar ett besök i den gamla stadskärnan, där man kan beundra otaliga byggnadsverk från 1700- och 1800-talen som är bevarade i perfekt skick. Man kan då också promenera omkring på de kullerstensbelagda gatorna som ofta är fulla med konstnärer och konsthantverkare. Området har också till en del en charmfull renässansatmosfär med fasader i trä och blommande balkonger.
Stadens viktigaste sevärdhet är den antika romerska teatern, som fortfarande används för olika evenemang och föreställningar i det fria. Vi rekommenderar också ett besök i klostret Bachkovo (från 1083) och Rila-klostret (från 400-talet), som är det största och populäraste i området.
Men staden har naturligtvis också ett varierat utbud av barer, restauranger och hotell för alla smaker och behov.
