Veliko Tarnovo är en pittoresk stad i norra Bulgarien, cirka 250 kilometer från Sofia och 49 kilometer från byn Bollentsi. Staden anses vara landets kulturella centrum, eftersom den under medeltiden var landets huvudstad.

På ett kort avstånd ligger Arbanassi, ett område som skyddas av UNESCO, med två kloster och några av Bulgariens äldsta kyrkor. Här finns också anläggningar för skidåkning och tennisspel.
