Monteverde är ett storslaget naturreservat på 10 500 hektar som ligger i Costa Rica, uppe i Tilarán-bergen.

Det är en molntäckt skog som ligger 172 kilometer från San José där man kan hitta 400 fågelarter, 490 fjärilsarter och mer än 100 däggdjursarter. Där kan du lära känna quetzalfågeln – mayafolkets heliga fågel – och där levde den utdöda guldpaddan (sapo dorado). Du kan se trädens toppar från de imponerande hängbroarna, som är både vuxnas och barns förtjusning. Mer än 400 orkidéarter förskönar och står i kontrast till den smaragdgröna skogen, full med ormbunkar av de mest otroliga varieteter. Du kan besöka Barnens Eviga Skog, fjärilsträdgården, kolibrigalleriet, ormhuset och många andra fantastiska platser.

Den närmaste platsen där man kan ta in är Santa Elena, med många lyxhotell och även stugor och logiplatser till billigare priser.
