Samaná är en provins i Dominikanska republiken. Det ligger i den nordöstra delen av landet och det är en halvö med vita sandstränder där Atlantens vatten har en otrolig turkosblå färg.
Det är den mest orörda regionen i Dominikanska republiken och dess befolkning är mycket vänliga och tillmötesgående. Centralorten på halvön är Santa Bárbara de Samaná (byggd år 1756).
I början av 1900-talet förstörde en svår brand alla spår av den koloniala bebyggelsen och idag är det en modern stad.
Från december till mars kan man delta i valskådning (knölval), varvid man kan välja att åka med båtar av olika typer, från de allra enklaste till mer lyxiga båtar.
Missa inte ett besök på Rincónplayan, en av världens tio vackraste playor, och en annan intressant plats är Salto del Limón, ett naturligt vattenfall mitt ute i djungeln.
Låt dig förföras av de karibiska rytmerna när kvällen faller på, medan ”bachata” och ”merengue” ljuder överallt, och när det gäller mat, är specialiteterna skaldjur och langust, som avsmakas tillsammans med en kall öl, höjdpunkten på en oförglömlig resa.
