Alexandria är den näst största staden i Egypten och den sträcker sig längs Medelhavskusten.
Staden delas in i 3 regioner: Brucheum, den underbaraste delen av staden, den judiska stadsdelen i nordöst och Rhakotis, som bebos av egyptier. Resterna av den antika staden har gått förlorade, men Pompeius pelare är ett av de antika monument som finns kvar och är ett av de mest kända. Det är en imponerande 25 meter hög granitpelare som restes år 297 e.Kr. Men trots förstöringen är Alexandria fullt av antika mysterier. En viktig historisk plats är Qaitbay-fortet som ligger i den västra delen av staden. Det byggdes av en sultan år 1477 e.Kr. för att skydda staden mot sjörövare. Det grekisk-romerska museet är ett historiskt museum med en stor samling från ptolomeisk och romersk tid. Upptäck även mysteriet med de imponerande romerska katakomberna i Kom-el-Shuqafa. Där finns antik romersk och grekisk ikonografi att beundra. Alexandrias bibliotek är en modern rekonstruktion av det antika biblioteket som förstörts för länge sedan.
