Nîmes ligger i södra Frankrike och det är huvudstaden i departementet Gard i regionen Languedoc-Roussillon. Vi rekommenderar ett besök på den imponerande amfiteatern, som är ett viktigt byggnadsverk från det första århundradet e.Kr.
Det är också intressant att lära känna Maison Carrée, som är från år 5 e.Kr. och ett av de få tempel i världen från den tiden som fortfarande är i perfekt skick. Templet byggdes av Agrippa till sina söners Caius och Lucius ära. Byggnaden har en stor trappa som ger tillträde till podiet med sex kraftiga, fårade kolonner. Härifrån har man en utmärkt utsikt över staden.
Man får inte missa Dianas tempel, ett vackert, romantiskt monument som är placerat i trädgården La Fontaine (1500-talet), en vacker park med ett flertal fontäner och statyer i en angenäm fransk stil.
