Lesbos är en grekisk ö som ligger nära Turkiets kust i Egeiska havet. Dess huvudort är Mitilene. Det är en bergig ö och dess högsta toppar är Lepetymos och Olympos.
Man kan se olivträd överallt. Framställningen av olivolja är öns huvudsakliga inkomstkälla, förutom turismen. I den västra delen av ön kan man besöka den förstenade sekvojaskogen, den näst mest betydande i världen.
När det gäller logimöjligheter är det möjligt att välja mellan lantligt boende, logi i kustbyarna eller i stadens livliga centrum. Vilket val som helst är utmärkt eftersom Lesbos befolkning är den vänligaste i hela Grekland.
För att lära känna dess historia kan du besöka de arkeologiska resterna, museerna, den gamla moskén Yeni Tzami, teatern på kullen Agia Kyriaki och den gamla fästningen i hamnen. De varma källorna som rinner upp i de gamla vulkanerna är världsberömda. Några andra obligatoriska besök är klostret som är tillägnat ärkeängeln Mikael, öns skyddshelgon, kyrkan Panayia tis Gorgonas, havsviken Gera och Plomari med sina ouzo-destillerier.
