Agra är en stad i Indien vid stranden av floden Yamura, tvåhundra kilometer söder om Delhi. Det var huvudstaden i Mogulernas Indien fram till 1600-talet och idag finns det storslagna byggnadsverk bevarade från det kejserliga förflutna.
Det mest symboltyngda monumentet är världsarvsobjektet Taj Mahal och ett av den moderna världens sju underverk. Dess arkitektur är en islamisk, persisk, indisk och turkisk stilblandning och det mest iögonenfallande är den imponerande kupolen i vit marmor och de fantastiska trädgårdarna som omger mausoleet.

Röda fortet eller Agra-fästningen är Indiens viktigaste fästning, även den upptagen på UNESCO:s världsarvslista, och den ligger 25 kilometer nordväst om Taj Mahal.
Itimad-Ud-Daulahs grav, omgiven av stora, vackra trädgårdar, även kallad ”det lilla Taj” och som anses vara en föregångare till detta, är ett mausoleum gjort i marmor, vars gulddekorerade tak plundrades vid ockupationen av Agra.
