Det märkliga med Puglia är dess romanska katedraler, svebiska och aragoniska slott och den originella barockarkitekturen i Lecce.
De historiska sevärdheterna i Bari är kyrkorna Basilica San Nicola, Cattedrale di San Sabino och Chiesa Russa, borgen Castelo Normanno-Svevo och den gamla staden, Barivecchia, med torgen Ferrarese och Mercantile. De viktigaste städerna förutom Bari är Brindisi, Taranto, Foggia och Lecce. Men du måste också göra ett uppehåll i Castellana för att upptäcka det spöklika underjordiska panoramat i dess grottor och i Alberobello för att se de egendomliga gamla husen som kallas trulli, mycket typiska för regionen.
I Lecce kan du besöka biskopspalatset, katedralen, kyrkorna Rosario och Santa Croce, borgen, amfiteatern och den romerska teatern. Och nere i söder ligger Otrantos hamn omgiven av mycket vackra stränder mellan klippstup och bergspass och det djupblå havet utanför.
Joniska havets pärla är Gallipoli med sin historiska stadskärna på en kalkstensö som är förenad med fastlandet genom en pittoresk bro.
