Trieste är en italiensk stad vid Adriatiska havet på gränsen till Slovenien.

I stadens gamla delar kan man besöka kyrka San Giusto, den romerska teatern, templen Santissima Trinità e di San Spiridone och Sant'Antonio Taumaturgo och fyren Faro della Vittoria. Piazza Unità d’Italia är Triestebornas samlingspunkt och ofta möts de på något av de historiska kaféerna.

Karstplatån är mycket lämplig för utflykter och grottforskning, eftersom det finns massor av grottor och underjordiska hålor. Den största är den 280 meter långa och 107 meter höga Grotta Gigante. Val Rosanda med sina klippor och sin omväxlande vegetation är också ett intressant mål för en utflykt.

Vid kusten är området Barcola populärt, bl.a. för Barcolana-regattan som går av stapeln där. Vid Miramare-parken kan man också besöka slottet Castello di Miramare och dess museum, göra undervattensutflykter och vandra i Fjärilsträdgården.
