Xian är en stad i Kina och huvudort i Shaanxi. Det är en av de mest attraktiva städerna i Kina och utgångspunkt för Sidenvägen. Xian anses vara en av de mest betydande städerna i hela mänsklighetens historia.
En av de populäraste sevärdheterna i staden är den berömda armén med terrakottakrigare, som står i givakt i den första kejsarens av Kina, Qins, mausoleum. Mausoleet upptäcktes år 1974 vid grävningarna för ett bygge och sedan 1987 tillhör det UNESCOs världsarv. Terrakottaarmén består av mer än 7 000 skulpturer av krigare och hästar som begravdes 210-209 f.Kr tillsammans med den självutnämnde förste kejsaren av Kina, som tillhörde Qindynastin.
Staden är full av sådana historiska sevärdheter som Xians stadsmur, byggd under Mingdynastin, och klocktornet, som även det byggdes under den perioden och som är en av stadens symboler. Därifrån utgår de fyra viktigaste gatorna i staden. Där finns också den Stora Moskén, byggd år 742, ett otroligt monument som blandar muselmansk stil med kinesisk.
