Ávila, som finns upptagen på världsarvslistan, är en spansk stad i den autonoma regionen Castilla y León. Det är huvudstaden i Ávilaprovinsen, som ligger mitt på den Iberiska halvön i en bergig trakt vid stranden av floden Adaja, 1 128 meter ö.h.
Staden har en medeltida, romansk ringmur, som är mycket väl bevarad, med nio portar, 87 torn och en omkrets på ungefär två och en halv kilometer. Den är helt illuminerad.
San Vicente-basilikan, som är byggd i olika stilar, beroende på de olika etapperna när den byggdes, är mycket intressant att besöka och om man vill se den i detalj, kan det ta flera timmar.
Man kan besöka klostren Convento de Santa Teresa i barockstil och Real Monasterio de Santo Tomás, paradorhotellet Raimundo de Borgoña och många andra intressanta monument.
