Staden Badajoz ligger i den autonoma regionen Extremadura i Spanien och den är provinshuvudstad i provinsen med samma namn.
Bland de viktigaste sevärdheterna vill vi framhålla den arabiska fästningen Alcazaba (1169), som har förklarats vara spanskt kulturminne år 1931. Det arkeologiska museet är inhyst i ett palats inom fästningen, och katedralen (som började byggas på 1400-talet) har flera olika stilar, både gotisk stil och renässans- och barockstil.
Badajoz har dessutom flera stadsportar och broar och en stadsmur som alla är mycket populära sevärdheter, av vilka kanske de mest populära är porten Puerta Pilar och bron Puente de Palmas (1596).
Vi rekommenderar också ett besök på Museo Privincial de Bellas Artes, som har en stor samling av skulpturer och målningar, Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo samt Museo Catedralicio m.fl.
Badajoz har även vackra naturområden som Parque Municipal de Tres Arroyos och hagarna vid Dehesa de Bótoa.
