Den vackra ön El Hierro är den sydligaste av Kanarieöarna, som tillhör Spanien. El HIerro är en del av provinsen Santa Cruz de Tenerife och centralorten heter Valverde. Men det finns också andra vackra orter såsom Frontera och El Pinar.
Tack vare sin utmärkt bevarade naturskönhet har den av UNESCO tagits upp på listan över biosfärreservat år 2000. Ön har olika naturlandskap, alla lika natursköna med grön skog, även kallad ”laurisilva” eller med omgivningar som ser ut som ett månlandskap, eftersom ön har genomlidit många vulkanutbrott på den södra delen.
