Peñíscolaområdet hör till kommunen Peñíscola i den spanska provinsen Castellón. Det ligger i östra Spanien, på Costa del Azahar vid Medelhavet norr om Valencia.
Den muromgärdade gamla stadskärnan ligger på en klippig halvö ute i havet och på den högsta toppen av klippan ligger en tempelriddarborg, en imponerande medeltida fästning.
Du kan besöka templet Santa María i Peñíscola, Ermitorio de la Virgen de la Ermitana, kapellet San Antonio, Artilleriparken, Museo de la Mar, El Bufador och naturreservatet i Sierra de Irta. Här kan du göra ridturer, cykla terrängcykel och fotvandra.
Från hamnen i Peñíscola kan du ta en båt till Columbretesöarna, en från ekologisk synpunkt sett intressant och mycket pittoresk ögrupp.
I Peñíscola är nattlivet mycket aktivt och det finns en mängd diskotek, barer och pubar. Du kan gå en barrunda och smaka på spanska ”tapas”; här är specialiteterna skaldjur och fisk, och du kan pröva Peñíscolas utsökta viner och hantverksmässigt tillverkade likörer. Playorna i den norra delen har fin, gyllengul sand och i den södra delen ligger fiskehamnen, där kusten är klippig med pittoreska små vikar och kristallklart vatten, som inbjuder till dykning.
