Salamanca är den administrativa huvudorten i provinsen med samma namn och det ligger i den autonoma regionen Castilla y León i Spanien. Floden Tormes rinner genom staden. Staden Salamanca är mycket populär eftersom den har ett av Spaniens viktigaste universitet med internationellt anseende.
Bland de viktigaste sevärdheterna vill vi framhålla torget Plaza Mayor (1700-talet) i barockstil, Casa de las Conchas från 1493 i sengotisk stil (med snäckformig dekoration på fasaden, därav namnet), den nya katedralen (1513) i gotisk och nyklassisk stil och barockstil, den gamla katedralen (1100-talet) i romansk och gotisk stil, Salamancas universitet (1500-talet) i platereskstil och till sist Palacio de Monterrey (1400-talet) i renässansstil.
Det råder en ungdomlig atmosfär i staden tack vare det stora antalet studenter som kommer till staden för att studera på det ryktbara universitetet och därför har man tillgång till ett mycket varierat utbud av barer, restauranger och diskotek där man har nöjet garanterat.
