  • London Airports, my opinion

    My opinion of airports around London are as follows: If travelling from/to London, I'd recommend booking flights from Stansted or Gatwickairports. Both are on opposite sides of the city, easy to get around and are packed full of services. London Heathrow is my idea of hell – constant delays, nearly always busy and well, I just don’t like it. London Luton is a low cost hub so during summer months you’re likely to get far too close for comfort with stag and hen parties, families with kids, and largered up Brits. However, it’s worth putting up any of these airports – because in next to no time, you’re air bound on route to somewhere you really want to be�

  • Going Underground in London

    Catching a black cab regularly around London and the chances are you’ll need to re-mortgage your home to afford it. The grim reality is that the majority of travellers in the city are forced onto the London Underground to cosy up with total strangers. Could be fun? Oh no it isn't. That’s exactly what happened to me when I had the misfortune of paying £4.50 for a single ticket (I was travelling before 9.30am) only to be crammed up to someone’s sweaty armpit. It wasn’t the highlight of my stay. Public transport is a great idea in theory, but filling a tiny train with more people than is actually safe has to break so many health and safety rules. And we all know how big the UK is on Health & Safety. I read in the news recently that clowns aren’t allowed to blow bubbles as they could endanger children around them, but you can jump on a London Underground train and have the breath crushed out of you, no problems. And, let’s not even go there with the potential to develop a nasty case of claustrophobia and reaching for the emergency chain. I have to say, I was tempted, but then, it would’ve delayed my exit from this evil form of transport. Oh the joys of travelling across London. My advice for getting around town is don’t do it during rush hour. Either that or invest in a pair of trainers and walk�
