Telford är en av de 120 platser i Europa som har ett objekt upptaget på UNESCO:s världsarvslista.
Det är den stad som har mest befolkning i grevskapet Shropshire, vars centralort är Shrewsbury. Det ligger i centrala/västra delen av England och det är ett av de mest lantbruksdominerade grevskapen. Floden Severn delar regionen i två delar, slättlandet och bergen.
