It was built by an Assyrian family from Mosul who paid a gold coin for each stone carved and decorated. Between 1915 and 1930 the mansion house was used as a military headquarters, in 2004 it was restored and in 2011 opened its doors to guests. The decor is comparatively simple giving more emphasis to the beautiful stonework.
